Purple Night
How do I describe this event? Hmm let’s see ok I know, it is like a ripple in a pond, or in this case maybe waves from a boat?
Let’s start from the beginning let me tell you a story of two men on a river cruise in 2022. One man is a 7-year survivor and the other one had a sister battling pancreatic cancer. They got talking about survival rates, early diagnosis, and the lack of information. They spoke about how they wished they could do something to bring awareness about pancreatic cancer. Imagine just two guys talking, now full disclaimer I need to tell you that there is nothing average about these two men. They wanted to do something but it had to be different!
If you are reading this page then you either know someone, are someone or lost someone to pancreatic cancer. You most definitely have gone through all of the following emotions plenty, you have cried, been angry, mourned or are still mourning, just like us. So, we all decided it is time to change it up if only for a day! There are many events for fundraising all worthy but not many that mix a little fun around the word pancreatic cancer and why would they? Pancreatic cancer is not fun it is devastating, it is life ending and life changing for many people, too many people. It does not just impact the victims of the disease but the families, caregivers, doctors, nurses and all the people in the pancreatic cancer support pipeline.
So, I bet you are wondering now how did we get here in 2023 right? Well sadly with a sister lost, these two men brought their idea to their respective families and it went from an idea to an event! We would like to introduce what we hope will be the first of many Pancreatic Cancer Cruises. Our mission is to help raise awareness, money and survival rates.
So, my friends you have the how and why now here is the what, where and when!
