7 Days in May (and September!) - Ted Carlton
This my third time participating in "7 Days in May", a cycling event and fundraiser founded in 2012 to increase awareness about pancreatic cancer and to raise funds to help find a cure for this deadly affliction.
I am riding in honour and memory of my brother Tim who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2015 and passed away in 2016.
Like a lot of other activities right now this year's event will look a bit different. Instead of a 7-day group ride around the province there is a virtual ride throughout the month of May and ending on June 4th. We will all track our progress after each ride.
I will be riding various routes throughout Muskoka during the month. The ride was set for the week of May 29th and I am keeping that week free for riding. My goal is to cycle 1500 km in the month (but not feeling any younger so we'll see!).
The event has raised over $800,000 since it started and the goal this year is to surpass the $1M mark. 100% of the monies raised are given to the PancOne initiative that is being run by Pancreatic Cancer Canada. All proceeds will be directed towards clinical trials and other studies focused on early detection as well as providing support and education for those impacted by the disease.
Please support me and help me reach my fundraising goal! Every pledge takes us one step further in the fight for life. Together we can #EndPanCan!
