For you always, mom.
I am honoured and excited to be a part of this wonderful event again this year., my 5th! This May, I'll be riding 3 days (500k) and volunteering the rest of the week.
Thus far, your generosity and support have helped me raise $20,000 as well as much awareness for Pancreatic Cancer Canada! It is wonderful to see how far we’ve come, but we need to keep going, as we still have farther to go. Raising funds is one thing – continuing to raise awareness is key!
As all of you know, my dear mom, Marina, was diagnosed in July of 2018. We said goodbye to our angel in April 2021. 3 years without her and not a day goes by that I wish I could feel her hugs and see her smile. She battled a challenging fight courageously and left us peacefully with grace and surrounded by love.
Prior to her passing, I let her know I would dedicate my life to continuing to raise awareness & funds for cancer research, more specifically pancreatic cancer. She loved this organization and was so grateful to everyone who supported the cause in any way they could. I spoke to her about how I would one day ride the full week with the crew - so fortunate to have accomplished that goal in 2022!
Pancreatic Cancer remains the deadliest of the major cancers. The good news is that the survival rate has increased in recent years and with the focus of the Pancreatic Cancer Canada Foundation, we are optimistic that the survival rate will continue to increase!
To continue our family tradition as well, Sloan (11) & Xavier (8 1/2) will participate in their 4th annual "Jr." 7 Days in May, riding their bikes for 7 consecutive days with me. They thank you for your donations, support & love.
7 Days in May riders, fund their own rides and we will direct 100% of ALL donations to Pancreatic Cancer Canada. All proceeds will be directed towards clinical trials and other direct studies, focused on early detection and a cure as well as providing support and education for those impacted by the disease.
My goal for 2024 is to raise $5000, $10 for every KM I ride! We will ride in & out of the beautiful city of Peterborough. Hope to see you there (or en-route) cheering us on!! Check out the 7 Days in May website for details and view our route!
I will continue this journey for my mom, and for countless of others who have lost their loved ones to pancreatic cancer. In our lifetime, we will be able to #EndPanCan with your continued help.
Ride on. Stay safe. Much love always, Mia
