To honour you always, mom.
Friends & Family,
I was honored to have been selected to ride alongside 'the greats' for a full 7 days in 2022! Together, you helped me raise over $10,000 for Pancreatic Cancer Canada! For this I will be forever grateful.
Training unfortunately had to be placed on pause for 2023, due to collarbone reconstruction surgery. I am however, still raising money in support of all riders this year.
Thank you once again for your support, encouragement & love since I joined this amazing group in September 2020! It has been an honour to ride among some of the most amazing humans I have ever met. Lifelong friendships formed, I plan to continue this journey for you mom, for as long as I am capable.
As all of you know, my dear mom, Marina Mauri Morsani, was diagnosed in July of 2018. We said goodbye to our angel in April 2021. She battled a challenging fight courageously and left us peacefully with grace and surrounded by love. 'You will always be my superhero and now, my forever angel, mom. I'll love you always'.
Prior to mom's passing, I let her know I would dedicate my life to continuing to raise awareness & funds for cancer research, more specifically pancreatic cancer. She loved this organization and was so grateful to everyone who supported the cause in any way they could. I spoke to her about how I would one day ride the full week with the crew, and she was so excited for me so long as I was careful ;) - so fortunate to have accomplished over 1000km of riding in 7 days last year!
Pancreatic Cancer remains the deadliest of the major cancers.
- 90% of those diagnosed will die within 5 years
- 75% of patients will die within the first year following diagnosis
- Pancreatic cancer is the third leading cause of cancer-related death in Canada and on track to be the second by 2030
- Survival rates have not seen any meaningful improvement in the last 40 years
The good news is that the survival rate has increased in recent years and with the focus of the Pancreatic Cancer Canada Foundation, we are optimistic that the survival rate will continue to increase!
To date, 7 Days has raised over $1.4 million for pancreatic cancer research! We’re looking forward to adding to that total this year with a goal of raising $400,000!
To continue the tradition -
Sloan (10) & Xavier (almost 8) will participate in their 3rd annual "Jr." 7 Days in May, riding their bikes for 7 consecutive days with me. They surpassed their 2022 goal of 50k last year and are super excited to announce their goal of 65k for 2023! They thank you for your donations, support & love.
As always, 7 Days In May riders, fund their own rides. We will direct 100% of ALL donations to Pancreatic Cancer Canada. All proceeds will be directed towards clinical trials and other direct studies, focused on early detection and a cure as well as providing support and education for those impacted by the disease.
Together, and to date, you have helped raise over 1 million dollars for 7 Days In May! THANK YOU!!!!
My goal for 2023 is to raise what I can for cancer research. My goal, to raise at least $1500.00 to start. Again, ALL administrative fees and overhead costs are managed by our sponsors and our riders. Every dollar you donate will go DIRECTLY to research. This is a founding principal of 7 Days and we will continue that objective for the foreseeable future.
In our lifetime, we will be able to #EndPanCan with your continued help.
Ride on. Stay safe. Stay healthy and excited to hear the cheering in 2023! I will be!
Love, Mia xo
