Welcome to Paul Brown's Fundraising Page
THE PREAMBLE: 7 Days is back in 2024 in it's new and improved ride format. The cause and goal remains the same; raise awareness and funds for pancreatic cancer research. To date, 7 Days has raised over $1.6 million, and we’re looking forward to adding to that total this year with a goal of raising $400,000. Help us reach this goal by making a donation in support of pancreatic cancer research.
THE RIDE: As you may or may not know, every year I cycle 160kms a day for 7 days in a row to raise funds and awareness for pancreatic cancer. In recent years we have changed tack and have shifted the ride from an "Around Lake Ontario" ride, to a tour around Southern Ontario. This year we start in Peterborough, work our way through Algonquin Provincial Park, and back home through Orrilia and Uxbridge. Rest assured, we will be encouraging you to donate along the way :)
THE CAUSE: The fact of the matter is that we need to continue moving the dial on pancreatic cancer research, which is underfunded compared to other cancers. There is still important research that needs to be done to combat this terrible affliction, and 100% of our fundraising efforts go towards supporting this cause.
HOW IT STARTED: The ride was originally started by my friend Gord Townley who lost his Mother to the disease in 2009. Since starting the ride in 2012, the ride has grown considerably and so has the impact its fundraising has made. It is now run by long time 7 Days rider Jack McKitrick and Pancreatic Cancer Canada.
WHY WE DO IT: All proceeds from fundraising for 7 Days will be going towards the PancOne™ initiative. PancOne™ is the first multi-disciplinary research partnership between major cancer centres across Canada. The goals are simple: faster diagnosis and more effective treatments for people with pancreatic cancer. A cancer that has a mortality rate of 93 percent, where 75 percent of those diagnosed die within the first year, and is drastically under-funded.
A donation in support of the ride would be greatly appreciated and would be helping an important cause. Tax receipts for your donations will be issued by Pancreatic Cancer Canada.
Please donate and show your support.
