7 Days In May 2022 - Jan and Gord Townley
2022 will mark the 11th time we have undertaken 7 Days In May. To date, we have raised almost $1,100,000 - 100% of which goes directly to pancreatic cancer research. Pancreatic Cancer remains the deadliest of the major cancers, with a first year survival rate of only 25%, and a 5 year survival rate of only 8%. The good news is that the survival rate has actually increased in recent years and with the focus of the Pancreatic Cancer Canada Foundation, we are optimistic that the survival rate will continue to increase.
As we did in 2021, 7 Days In May will direct 100% of our funds raised to PancOne initiative that is being run by Pancreatic Cancer Canada. All proceeds will be directed towards clinical trials and other direct studies, focused on early detection and a cure as well as providing support and education for those impacted by the disease.
We are hopeful that for 2022, 7 Days In May will be a combination of in person and virtual event. 2022 will also mark the final year that Jan Townley and I manage and run the event. We are hoping for a big close out to our tenure as founders and operators of 7 Days and, as such, we have set our fundraising total to be $250,000! As in past years, 100% of our funds raised will go to the cause. All administrative fees and overheads are managed by our sponsors and our riders. Every dollar you donate will go directly to research. This is a founding principal of 7 Days and we will continue that objective for the foreseeable future.
Thank you for your support. In our lifetime, we will be able to #EndPanCan with your continued help. Ride on!
